Wedding Wednesday!

Oh my goodness! Thanks to everyone who commented about my engagement (and my outfits) because y'all really made my day! I know I say it all the time, but y'all are the BEST! I can't not even begin to know what I need to do to plan a wedding! I know the church I want, but other that...no idea. My boss gave me the idea of doing the reception out in the square that the church is on, and I love that idea. I also want to look around at different venues downtown. I just don't know how I will be able to decide! I am going to be counting on all of my newlywed and bride-to-be's to help me out! We are thinking June 2010 for our wedding, but the actual date depends on the church's availability. Here is a picture of the church I want to get married in. copyright: http://www.wesleymonumental.org/weddings.htm
copyright: http://www.wesleymonumental.org/seasons.htm
Here are some pictures from theknot.com that I really like and could see me doing for my wedding.
I love everything about this picture. The attire of the bride and groom is exactly what I am wanting. I am thinking light and dark pink for the colors too. I really like these bridesmaid's dresses, but I might do something with a strap instead of strapless. I want all of my girl's to be comfortable and some of them don't do strapless in their day to day life. I think I will do a dress that has some type of color contrast like these though. I want peonies and roses for my flowers. I really want a bridal bouquet that is all white peonies and roses and my bridesmaids to carry different shades of pink.I like the idea of a full flower like a hydrangea and ribbon on the pews. These are the two colors I am thinking about too!I think I want small centerpieces with peonies and roses. I like that these have the table number coming out of it. I also really want votive candles on the tables.

I love this cake! I want to put flowers on our cake and our monogram possibly. I think the only thing I would change about this cake is instead of stripes on the bottom layer, I would put the lace design on it also. These are candies apples tied up for favors. I love the idea of giving something away to my guests that is uniquely Savannah and something that Thomas and I love! I am kinda stuck on the idea of pralines from Savannah Candy Kitchen now.

I hope y'all have enjoyed seeing some of the ideas I have for my wedding day! My mother and I are going to tour the church I have my heart set on in a few weeks to make sure that I really want that one. I will let y'all know how it goes!

I'm Back and I'm Engaged!!!!

You read that right! I am engaged!!!! I am so excited right now! I am on cloud nine sitting here reading wedding magazines admiring my ring! Before I get to the proposal, I need to tell y'all all about the cruise! It rained so much! :( We didn't get to go to our Cococay destination because it was so rainy outside that the Captain decided it was unsafe. We were disappointed about this, but we had a great time despite this! Right before we left to go to Daytona

Thomas was tired when we got to Daytonathe view from our balcony in DaytonaThomas and I ready for the lifeboat drilldinner the first night (blurry because the boat was rocking bad!)drinks after dinnerview from a dining area, this actually looks down where Thomas proposed! I am so glad I got this picture!drinks the next dayCaptain's Dinner (blurry again!)Nassau, Bahamas ready to go on a tour and go shoppingSenor Frogs is so much fun!Cruise ships docked in NassauReady for the tour!Queen's StaircaseAtlantis resort! So beautiful! I really want to go stay here!

Here is the proposal story! Thomas wanted to go walk on the deck on the last night since we hadn't had a chance to go out there at night during the trip. We went out to the deck and walked around looking out at the waves, the stars, and the other boats in the distance. It was really windy and choppy and I was scared to get close to the edge. Thomas walked with me to the edge at the very front of the ship and held tight around my waist so that I wouldn't be scared. He started talking about how fun our vacation had been and that he loved me. He let go and when I turned around he was on one knee with the ring. He asked me to marry him and I said YES! I cried and cried! It was much better than I ever imagined! On the way back to our room, we ran into a couple on the elevator that had been married 56 years and they wished us all the happiness in the world! It was absolutely amazing! It has diamonds going up both sides! My gorgeous ring!!!The future Mr. and Mrs.

Lucky Was A Bad Dog!

Oh my my my! Lucky did something terrible last night, but first I need to give you some background information. Lucky loves to eat. Seriously, he loves to eat. If there is food in front of him, he will eat it all. He will literally jump up and down at the sound of the word treat. He is never satisfied with only one either! If you are eating something, he does not beg. However, he will sit there looking at you and if you put the food down (like when you are completely finished, not just taking a break) he will try to find a way to get to it. He has been known to get on top of tables to try to get a morsel of the food and if you open the refrigerator, he will sniff around to see whats in it. When we got him, he weighed 7.5 lbs (and was underweight), but now he weighs in at 10.5 (he really likes to eat) That being said, a couple of days ago I was eating an english muffin. I got full after I had eaten half of the second one. I set the other half down on the side table were I was sitting watching t.v. He was acting like he was going to try to get on the table to get it, so I went and put it on the kitchen table. A few minutes later, I realized he was gone. I went looking for him and found him on top of the kitchen table with the english muffin in his mouth. I told him to drop it (and he ALWAYS listens to instructions with a firm tone), but this time he went running around in circles trying his hardest to eat it up before I could grab it. Imagine a tiny dog running in circles with half an english muffin hanging out of his mouth, and the while he is chewing trying to get it down. It was really comical and I just gave up and let him have it. He worked so hard for it. Ha! Well, I guess that I gave him positive reinforcement for the behavior and then last night happened. Around 3:30 A.M., I was woken up by this really loud crash. I figured the cat had knocked over something and decided I had better go check it out. I went downstairs to find Lucky in the kitchen floor surrounded by glass with his entire head in the box of treats. First response was to make sure Lucky was okay. I was terrified that he had glass in his paws or fur. I checked him over really well and he was fine. Then, I surveyed the damage. There had been a chair at the kitchen table that was stuck out a little bit and had some cleaning supplies sitting in it that needed to be put away. Well, all the cleaning supplies were in the floor and it looks like he jumped on the chair, then to the table and pulled his treats down to eat them and it knocked a glass over. There I was cleaning up glass at 3:45 in the morning, while Lucky was closed up in my room because I was terrified he would eat that too! I didn't even know what to do to punish him, so I let it go. Not the best response, but it was going on 4 A.M., I had to be at work early, and I had only gone to bed at midnight. Oh, what am I going to do with my little dog?

Rambling

I have so many things buzzing around in my mind right now that I want to update y'all on.

  • My best childhood friend Melissa had her baby boy Preston yesterday morning. I have been to the hospital twice to see him. He is soooo cute! She was only 36 weeks so he is technically a preemie, but he is healthy and doing great. He is just tiny...5 lbs, 10 oz.
  • I received Lilly P. Wannabe's My Flip Flopz sign in the mail the other day. It is so cute! I am trying to figure out where to hang it! Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!
  • I have gotten all of my grades back from this semester! 3 As and 1 B! I am so happy with this result! I got the B in Managerial Accounting. Can y'all believe that I got an A in my super hard Intermediate Macroeconomics class! I have never worked so hard in my life for an A!
  • I am planning on packing for vacation tonight! I really need to get a start on this. I have ironed one dress and that's it! That dress was my Brighton dress with the lace on it, and I snagged it in 3 places because of my nasty ragged acrylics that are getting redone on Saturday. I seriously almost cried! The more I look at it, the more I realize it is so small you can't tell. But still... Tonight is cleaning, laundry, and packing. You know what...I can't wait to do all these "chores" The cruise is getting closer!
  • I am waiting on my Ruelala purchases. I ordered two cute nighties, a dress, a pair of shorts, and 2 polos to bring on the cruise (since the estimated arrival was way before we left) and they still have not arrived. Ugh, I should have just paid $10 more and had then shipped faster. Hopefully, they will arrive. If not, it's okay since I obviously I am not hurting in the clothes department.
  • I am going to have to get my acrylic nails taken off completely and then get new ones. I thought that I could deal with them being ugly for a week and just wait until my appointment on Saturday. Well, they are brittle and are chipping off on the sides (thus the reason my Brighton Lilly dress got snagged) They are in rough shape. What do yall know about solar nails, gel nails, etc. I might get something other than acrylic. I just don't know much about the other types and my sweet nail girl can't speak English very well. She is the absolute sweetest though! She is 23 and moved here from Vietnam with her family. Her parents live in Atlanta and are janitors, and her sister and her work at the nail salon 6 days a week from open to close and send much of their money to their parents. They live with family in Savannah. Miley, the nail tech, wants desperately to go to college, but she just can't afford it right now. She always asks me about my classes. She is just so sweet. She makes me thankful for the life I live. I pray one day she will be able to go to college and have the life she wants.

I hope everyone is having a great day! Please let me know whatever info you have about nails!!!

A New Winner...

I am not sure what has happened to Capperson. She originally won my blog giveaway for the set of 10 notecards. I have emailed, commented, and this is my 3rd post concerning this matter. I really don't know what else I can do to let her know that she won. I am sorry to say this but I have had to draw another winner. The random number generator has picked...

TALES FROM MY EMPTY NEST

Congrats! I hope that you love your set of notecards and have a chance to put them to good use. Please email me (it's on my sidebar) and let me know your address and name so that I can get them out to you!

Acrylic Nail Emergency!

Saturday, I went to the beach with Ashton and Laura. I laid out and got in the water. Of course, I wore sunscreen because I burn really bad without it (and I reapplied!) After laying out for a while, I noticed my perfect french manicure was sticking to the sand! I wear acrylic nails by the way. I tried to wash them off with clean water...still sticky. Clean them up with a towel...still sticky. I finally gave up until I got home. When I got home and took a shower, I scrubbed them with a nail brush. The sand came off, but they were still sticky! I tried putting clear top coat on them and it literally melted off! It never dried and it became like an oil. I gave up and decided that I would get them fixed on Monday. They finally hardened up again and they look terrible!!! I could not figure out what was wrong with them. Well, I googled it and apparently it is sunscreen! There are emulsifiers in sunscreen and they literally eat away and dissolve the top layer of acrylic (and based on my research, I think regular manicured nails also are affected) So this really wouldn't be a problem except for the following facts:

1. I live in Georgia on the coast! I live in the boat in the summer! Sunscreen is not optional!
2. I'm leaving to go on a cruise on Sunday! I have already paid for excursions that involve sand, water, and sunscreen.
3. I have weak and brittle nails that will not grow past the quick if I don't keep them manicured with acrylic (or gel or something like that. They are all affected by sunscreen)

There are some sunscreens that are okay, but there is no listing of what is okay and is not okay. Instead, the Internet sites suggest trying out the sunscreen in the store with a glass mirror that has your polish dried on it. Uh, not so practical! Also, I have already bought 3 bottles of sunscreen and I am not buying more! The only option I can think of is to wear latex gloves when I am applying. I told Thomas I was doing this and he laughed at me. FYI - if I do this, I will only be applying in the privacy of my stateroom! It's really weird that this happened! I have worn acrylic nails before this summer and never had this problem! It's a good thing this happened before the cruise so that I can go buy some latex gloves!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I had a packed weekend! Friday night, Thomas and I went out to dinner with his parents. We decided to try this new place called Fish Tales. It has only been open a couple of weeks. It was at the marina overlooking the Ogeechee River. I loved eating and looking at all the beautiful boats! I had popcorn shrimp, hush puppies, and fries and Thomas had the crab cakes. Everything was really good. We had to wait quite some time, but we saw so many people we hadn't seen in ages. It was great, but it had a bar type of feel to it and I wasn't liking that. Overall, I would rate it 7 out of 10.

Saturday, I woke up early and went to Ashton's graduation from nursing school. She goes to the same college as I do, so it was fun to think I would be down there graduating in a couple of years. However, I thought it was strange that they had all the students graduating at one ceremony. All the Bachelors, all the masters, and all the doctorates. It only took about 2.5 hours though. They really kept it going quickly. I couldn't believe how immature some of the graduates were though...this one guy walked up on the stage and when they called his name, he pulled out a red cloth, laid it on the floor, and did a dance on it up to the president of the university, shook his hand, then posed with him for a picture. It was unbelievable! A ton of people painted their hats too! Another thing I got a good laugh about was the way all the professors were dressed! I have seen it before, but it always makes me crack up.

There was even a man with a scepter! ha! Ashton's sister, Laura, and I decided it was the scepter of knowledge. haha! Really though, I felt like I was at a Lord of the Rings convention or it was the second coming of Prince Henry the Navigator. It is so funny that the smarter you become, the dumber the outfit you have to wear! Oh well, I still want one of those funny outfits one day! After graduation, Ashton, Laura, and I went to Tybee Island to the beach. It was such a nice day! I laid out and read The Devil In The Junior League. I am loving that book by the way!

Sunday, my mother and I went to Thomas' grandparents house for a Mother's Day lunch. I mostly laid around, studied, washed clothes, and ironed stuff for my cruise in the afternoon. So what did y'all do this weekend?

Dentist

I have no words for my dentist appointment. It was 3 hours. I told my boss that I would be to work after the appointment. Well, when I got out and realized I wasn't going to be at work until 1:30 or so I just called and told her that I wouldn't be coming in today. She completely agreed, thank goodness. I am not in the mood to work today. So do y'all want to bad news or the worse news? The bad: I have 6 teeth will cavities in them and I have gingivitis. Luckily, flossing will take care of the minor gingivitis and no treatment is needed. The worse news: I might need two root canals. The dentist said he couldn't be sure until he got into the tooth, but we had to be prepared for the worse. Otherwise, he would have to put a temporary filling in and bring me back for a second time to do the root canal. Oh, and it will hurt while I have the temporary since the root will now be exposed. The most terrible: my insurance pays NOTHING! In fact, today I had to pay completely out of pocket and I will hopefully get reimbursed by my insurance company. Without getting into all the details of this, I will say that it is going to be expensive. Let's just say it will cost more than I have made so far this year. Yep, more than this girl has even earned this year! Booooo, I am mad and sad and worried and embarrassed that my teeth are so messed up. I didn't even think I would post about this, but since I already asked y'all to pray I thought I should tell y'all what the dentist said. I am more embarrassed than anything. The funny thing is they have never hurt, and I get compliments on them all the time. In fact, the dental hygienist told me my teeth were beautiful when I smiled. So, next step is to call Daddy and let him know. I hope he gives me the money because I don't know where I am going to get it. I could do Care Credit if I had to, but the payment will be extremely high. I guess I will do what I have to do. Please pray for me and my mother about our teeth. If I have learned anything it is dental health is so important. Brush and floss!!!! Go every six months to get a check-up!!!! Don't let yourself get into this predicament!

Happy Birthday!

Today is Thomas' birthday! Tonight we are going out to dinner and then to his parent's house for some birthday cake. I can't wait! I bought him the perfect card...a musical one that plays "The Final Countdown" We both laugh about this song when it comes on the radio. He thinks it is probably the worst song ever written and loves to mock the terrible lyrics. We have gotten a few laughs from this song, so it should be appropriate. I'm sorry if you think this song is good. Anyway, I am giving him some spending money for the cruise and this card, and I am taking him out for dinner and drinks tonight. I hope he has a great birthday! Here are some pictures of him through the years.Valentine's Day 2009

Weekend

This weekend was a lot of fun! Friday night, Thomas and I went out to eat with his parents and his sister Kelly and her boyfriend. We had Mexican, my favorite! When we got home, Thomas' mother and I hung out and played with Blackberry messenger. We were having a great time sending Kelly voice messages and PINGing her while she was trying to hang out with her boyfriend. Everytime we would PING her, she would scream across the house for us to leave her alone. It was halarious! We all mess with each other so much! Saturday, my mother and I went out to the Olive Garden with my friend Melissa and her mom. Melissa is pregnant and will be having her baby in June. After lunch, we went to Melissa's house and saw the nursury. It is sports themed...so cute! Afterwards, my mother and I went to the mall and mostly window shopped. We got some body washes from Bath and Body Works. They are having a great sale right now if anyone has the need for some of this stuff. Buy 3 get 2 free, or buy 2 get 1 free. I got a new scent called Butterfly Flower that smells so pretty! I also got the Prussia Novelty skort in Robin's Egg Blue Star Sighting. It was marked way way down at Belk and it matches my bikini, so my mother and I decided I needed it! We had a great time in Belk trying on all the Lilly Pulitzer clothing. I wanted so many of the celebrity dresses. Oh, to have a million dollars...I wish! Anyway, I was more than happy to get my cute little skort for a steal! Sunday, I was really lazy. I planned to study a lot and I even missed church to study. Instead I laid around and watched Madagascar 2 and played around on the computer. I hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Lilly Pulitzer and Rue La La!

OH MY! Rue La La is having a fantastic sale on Lilly Pulitzer right now! I told myself I was just window shopping, but I had to break down and buy something! I am so happy and I decided it is my reward for a really tough semester (and it will cheer me up since I got back a homework assignment last night and I got a 50! No joke!) When the items come in I will be sure to post about what I got. I can't wait for all these goodies to come in. A few boutiques ago, I also got Ashton a graduation present! She has worked so hard and deserves to be pampered! She is going to be a RN and has a job lined up and everything! She is so inspiring! The lord didn't bless me with a sister, instead he gave me the BEST friend I could ever ask for! Way to Go Girl!!! Ashton - since you are reading this it is not Lilly Pulitzer or clothing of any kind, so don't try to guess. You won't have a clue until Saturday!

Winner!

The winner of my very first giveaway is...

CAPPERSON

Please email me with your address so I can get your goodies to you! I hope you love the cards! Thanks to everyone who entered!
