Weekend

Hey y'all! I sure am glad it is Friday! I really haven't had much going on this week...just trying to get back into the school vibe since this is the first week back since Spring Break. I have a few really tough tests coming up, so I will be studying a lot this weekend. But tonight, I am having some fun! A and I are going to Macy's to spend some gift cards that I have been saving. The plan is to find some great items for the cruise. I am in need of some new sandals because Lucky chewed up my favorite pair of white ones. I also didn't end up buying any Bonannos, so I really need to find a great pair of sandals. I am thinking about a white pair and maybe a gold pair. I also saw a great Ralph Lauren cover up on the Internet that would match my Lilly bikini so well. That might also be in the shopping bag! I will let you all see what I end up with sometime this weekend. After Macy's, we are planning to go to Micheal's (a craft store...do they have this chain everywhere in the U.S.?) and buy some beads to make jewelry on Saturday afternoon. I don't think I have ever told y'all that I make beaded jewelry, so now ya know! A is going to get a tutorial this weekend and we are going to make some necklaces, earrings, and bracelets to match our new clothes! I will let you see how they work out! Other than that, I will be laying low. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Have fun, relax, and enjoy the beautiful weather (unless you live in Savannah because it will be raining...boo)

The Look for Less!

Happy Wednesday! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I just didn't have much to say. Imagine that! Ha! I have been trying to think of something for today's post when I was inspired by a shoe carried at Macy's. I am big for trying to find trendy items for less because then I don't feel as bad when they are worn out or just out of style and I throw them away. Today I am wearing a new pair of shoes from Target. They are by Merona and they are the Mittie Ballet Flat in Pink Patent. I was browsing in Target one day, saw them, and just had to have them. Let me say that I have gotten numerous compliments on these shoes by both ladies and men! They are quickly becoming my go-to shoe. They come in pink patent and black patent and only cost $24.99. Did you know that these shoes are designed to look like one of our favorite designer brands? Yes, they are modeled after the Tory Burch Breely Flip Flop which retails for $175! Talk about a steal! Look at the flower...it is almost identical! Way to go Target! Other brands were also inspired by Tory Burch such as Anne Klein. These are the shoes I saw online at Macy's today. The Happy Pump comes in Ivory, Black, and Red...fun for the office! The Poodle Ballet Flat comes in Ivory, Black, Red, and Yellow. The flower on these is also very similar. They both retail for about $80. So there you go, no matter what your budget you can have great designer style!

Ebay Recessionista

Hello Girly Girls! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I am in high spirits because the weather is finally getting warm in Savannah! Y'all know how much I missed the heat, so I am happy it is returning! By the way, when it is July, 100 degrees, and 100% humidity, please don't yell at me for complaining about the heat! For today's post, I wanted to talk about eBay! I am a total eBay addict! I usually only do the "Buy It Now!" because I am scared of losing something that I want to buy, but this past weekend my mother got me hooked on bidding! My competitive spirit really came out and I really got addicted to bidding instead of buying it now! Last week, my mother surprised me with Lilly dress that she got for less than $50. This weekend we decided to see what sort of capris we could find since I do not own a pair of Lilly capris. My mother and I won the followingNow get ready for the shocker! I did not pay more than $35 for any of these capris! I got the Turquoise Golden Lion printed capris for $16, the Black Jack printed capris for $35 (NWT), and the Kings Court printed capris for $17. If that isn't a good deal, I don't know what is! By the way, when I was researching the names of Lilly Pulitzer prints to remember the names of the prints on my capris this blog came up on google. It made me giggle! If you are ever looking for a good site to identify the name of a Lilly print go here!

Atlanta...

I am officially back!!! Actually, I have been back in Savannah since Sunday but I have been super busy! I have been working, spending time with friends and of course Thomas, and trying to get some serious organizing done! This weekend in ATL was fabulous! A and I stayed with her sister and really enjoyed having an all girls weekend! I will start at the beginning...A and I left around 4:30 from my house and drove up to Atlanta without anything major happening. When we got to A's sister's apartment, they had created a surprise birthday party for me!!! I have never ever had a surprise birthday party before and I was beyond excited to see a cake and banner for me! We played board games all night and had girl talk. The next morning, we went thrifting! I have a weakness for bargain shopping and have recently gotten into consignment shops. Atlanta has a great chain of consignment shops called Finder's Keepers. I found many great items in the clothing store such as a Lilly Pulitzer suede jacket, a pair of J Crew City Fit capris, a pair of TIBI capris, a number of adorable sun dresses by various designers, Vera Bradley bags, and shoes galore! I ended up buying a great BCBG blue dress and a pair of Steve Madden ballet flats (they are a dead ringer for Chanel flats) I ended up changing my mind on the outfit and wearing the BCBG dress and new flats to the concert Saturday night. Unfortunately I never got a picture of all of us girls, so I can't show you how cute it looked. We planned to take a picture once we got to the concert, but it was pouring rain and we had NO umbrella! Picture it, three girls dressed in our cutest outfits walking through the rain with people asking to buy our tickets the entire way! I was so gross when we got there, therefore we have no picture to show anyone (probably a good thing!). The concert was beyond AMAZING! I have never been to a more fun show in my life! Elton John and Billy Joel started out together with "Your Song" and the pianos raised out of the floor, they sang a few songs together and then they each did a set. They both are great performers, but I do have to say I enjoyed Billy Joel a little bit more. He was so funny and entertaining! My favorite was when he did "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" because he got up and danced with the microphone. After they each did a set, they did about 10 songs together to end the concert. "Uptown Girl" was wonderful and so much fun, as was "Back in the USSR" by The Beatles (they did a couple songs that were by other musicians) They did "Candle in the Wind" and then ended with "Piano Man" It was PHENOMENAL! I cannot believe I saw two artists with so much talent perform together. This is truly a experience I will always remember! We went home on Sunday morning and got lost in Atlanta for about an hour. All in all, this weekend was absolutely wonderful! I will have to do a photo post for y'all next, so stay tuned!!!

Playing Catch Up

Good Morning lovely ladies! We have a lot to discuss today! I am going to play catch up with all the info I have been forgetting to let you know about recently!
  • I realized this morning that I never updated you on my grade on my Macroeconomics midterm. I guess I was just in denial and tried to forget it! When I got my midterm back I had received a D. YUCK! I really felt I understood the concepts, but the test was ridiculously hard. Apparently everyone else felt exactly the same way because over half of the class got a D and all the others got a C, with the exception of 3 bright people who got a B or an A. How they did that I will never know! Ha! Well, it all turned out great in the end because he realized that he didn't give us enough time to do this exam (whatever, it didn't matter how much time he gave me, I just didn't get his questions). He decided to give everyone a 20 point curve or give you the chance to redo the exam in order to regain 2/3 of your missed points. I calculated and figured that it will not make a difference either way for me because I will end up with the same grade...a B!!!! I am going to just take the curve but I will be researching what I did wrong and having a meeting with him to have him explain what I didn't understand.
  • Comcast came through for me last night and I was able to watch Martha because it did tape properly!!! Yay! I absolutely loved that show and will probably watch it about 5 times, haha! I watched the audience and paused it to try to see all my blogging girlfriends! Landlocked Mermaid and Hopsy looked great! I looked for you AGH, but I didn't see you. I will look more closely when I re watch it. I loved the craft idea for the raffia flowers! OH MY! I must find her etsy shop to order my own kit! It looked so so fun and easy to do! I would have to make a hat and bag to match for my cruise! Ooo, maybe I will buy a hat or bag in the Bahamas from the straw market and bring it home to jazz up! I also loved watching how the prints were made and the fashion show...and those mojitos looked fabulous. I will have to make them for A and I soon for my own celebration of my 21st. I watched the show will my mother and the quote of the year came from her! As we were watching the make your own print segment, she turned to me and said, "I think I understand your Lilly love now." She was also in love with Martha's blouse and that Shaken Up print. Ladies, we have a new Lilly lover in the making!
  • I ordered a few Lilly stationary pieces from The Beadcage Gifts. Grits told us about them recently and I have to agree with Grits, they are beyond wonderful! I ordered on Tuesday and received my package yesterday! Now they are in Columbus, GA and I am in Savannah, so don't count on yours being as soon as mine if you are far away. Still, they seem to be on top of their game! Stop by Grits to get the link and a special promo code for 10% off and free shipping! I got the file folders, circle notes, and dry erase board in Animal Crackers to brighten up my gray cubicle!

I hope y'all have a great day! I am off to ATL for the weekend and I will let y'all know how the concert was when I return! I think I have finally picked the perfect outfit, but you will have to wait until Sunday to see! I bet the suspense it killing y'all!

Dear Comcast...

Dear Comcast Cable,
I am extremely disappointed with your service. I have been anxiously waiting for over a month for the Lilly Pulitzer Martha Stewart Show to air on March 11, 2009. I set my DVR to record this particular Martha Stewart show and even went to the extra trouble of making sure to read the extended information you provide about the episode to assure that I was recording the correct show. When I arrived home today to watch the subject episode, I was angered to know that the show you described as The Lilly Pulitzer Special of The Martha Stewart Show was actually yesterday's show with Emeril Lagasse making Cajun cuisine. Due to your mistake, I missed seeing some of my favorite bloggers in the audience, watching Hopsy have an interview with Martha herself, and watching the fabulous line up of crafts, fashion, and fun. Your updated listings show that you will be airing the show again on Thursday night, however if I have another DVRed episode of Emeril making crawfish I can promise you will be getting a call from me about your horrible service.
Thanks for nothing,
Jennifer

Happy Birthday!

Today is officially my 21st Birthday. I do have to work today, but I went in extra early so I could get off at 3:00. I also have to go to the DMV today so that they can give me a new license that doesn't have the ugly red "Under 21" box on my picture. I feel like I am actually an adult today! I guess I have been a real adult since I was 18 since I had bills and tons of responsibility, but I feel like others will finally realize I am not a kid anymore. I couldn't be more excited about this birthday. I am going out to eat tonight with a ton of family and friends at Chilis, this weekend I am going to the concert, the next weekend Thomas is taking me to Il Pasticio, and my mother is taking me shopping in Hilton Head. My birthday is going to keep on going for a week and I love it! In honor of my 21st, I am going to take a cue from Sweet, Sassy, and Always Classy and post 21 random facts about myself.

Birthday Presents

I love Birthdays so much!!! I have the most generous friends and family ever. I already have received a ticket to the Billy Joel/Elton John concert from Thomas and he is going to take me out to Il Pasticio downtown in a couple weeks. A and her husband gave me a big floppy straw hat and some spending money for the cruise. On Saturday, Thomas' mother and father gave me a Pandora bracelet! I have been wanting one of these for a while, so I was extremely excited when I opened the jewelry box! If you haven't seen a Pandora bracelet, here are some pictures.
Basically, the Pandora is a modern type of charm bracelet. I have the silver bracelet and a silver bead called lots of love with hearts all over it. I am beyond excited by my new bracelet. Maybe one day, I will have it as full as all of the photos above!

Spring Cleaning

This weekend I am going to be very busy. I have to read a book for my Microeconomics class, go to the DMV to have my license renewed, go pay the lovely birthday gift that Georgia always gives me (aka the ad valorem tax for my car tag), and start planning a baby shower for my friend. I really want to do some spring cleaning also. I need to reorganize so much of my stuff, especially my closet! I have the tiniest closet known to mankind. It is awful because let's face it, I am addicted to shopping. So on top of what I am already doing, I am going to try to switch my closet to Spring clothing and get rid of what I didn't wear this winter. The weather in Georgia had warmed up to 70 today and will be 78 on Sunday!!! I still have to keep the winter clothing handy until the weather stays up in the 70s, but I can at least put it away. Wish me luck that all of my spring items will even fit in my shoebox of a closet!

This and That

Last's night workout went really well. I decided since I am so out of shape, I should start slow. I walked on the treadmill (on a very high incline and very fast) for 30 minutes. I really wanted to do more, but Thomas was wanting me to come home and hang out with him. Of course, I couldn't say no to that sweet man! When we got to my house, guess what was sitting on my porch? My new bikini!!! I was feeling great from working out, so I thought I should go ahead and see how it looks. Oh my, it was too cute. It was a little big on me, I guess I should have ordered one size down. Luckily, the bandeau top ties in the back like a triangle top (LOVE this detail!) and therefore I can tie it tighter and it will look great! Also, the bottom ties on one side and therefore that also can be tight or loose. I love that it is so versatile! Gain or lose a little, the bikini will still fit great! Also, the fabric was the softest ever and the boning on the side of the bandeau didn't dig at all! I was a little scared to buy a bandeau since often times they have NO support, but not this one. I don't even own one triangle top or one piece that is as supportive as this one! Oh Lilly, you never disappoint! I told Thomas that I was never going to buy another suit unless it was Lilly! He just doesn't get it, but then again...What man really does? I also got an early birthday present from A! She knows how badly I wanted a wide brimmed straw hat to wear on the cruise, so she found the absolute best one for me! Thanks girl, you know I LOVE it! I can't wait for next Wednesday, March 11th...I will be turning 21!

Countdown to Cruise!

Okay, I know my cruise is like 2 and half months away so it's not countdown time yet...but I am talking about getting my body ready for the cruise. Ugh! I haven't been on a serious daily exercise regime since my days of high school cheerleading and this southern belle is OUT OF SHAPE!!!! I am serious about this! I don't really have a big weight issue (although I wouldn't mind losing about 10 lbs) but I am not toned and I even get out of breath walking across campus at school! Today starts day 1 for my new exercise program! I need to get my body toned so that I look as cute as my Bacall Bandeau Twist Bikini! These are the areas of my body that have been getting too much love from the ice cream bowl (i.e. "problem areas" but that phrase is banned because it is too negative!): triceps, abs, thighs, bottom. I need to work out these areas so that they will be tight on the cruise (and all summer!) I know a lot of you ladies are working out and losing weight and I would like to know what tips you can give me on exercising. What is your routine in the gym? What exercises would work the areas I am trying to tone? What do you do when you can't go to the gym?

Polyvore

I have seen polyvore on a number of blogs and have yet to try it out yet...until today! This is what I would wear to the Elton John/Billy Joel concert coming up in 2 weeks if I owned all of these pieces. Now, on to my closet to see if I owe anything similar so that I can pull this look out of it!

Weekend and Haircut

Hello BFFs! This weekend went by very quickly! Do we all agree? Friday, Thomas and I went to eat at a local Italian restaurant. We eat here about once every week or two. It is so yummy! We started with a basket of Sour Cream and Chive French Fries with Ranch Dressing and then had a Meat Lover's Pizza (also with Ranch Dressing of course!) I saw my friend J who works there, and we had such a great time catching up and talking about her upcoming wedding. Saturday, I slept in and went and got my hair and nails done. I had my hair lady put heavier blonde highlights this time and she gave me some side swept bangs. They are currently annoying me, but once I get used to them I think I will really like them. Here are some pictures of my new do!
BEFORE

AFTER

I hung out with Thomas on Saturday as well. When I got home I watched one of my all time favorite movies, Troop Beverly Hills. If you haven't seen it, it is from the 80s and it is about a rich woman in Beverly Hills who volunteers to lead her daughter's Wilderness Girls troop. She is so prissy and one of the other troop leaders is so mean to her about it and tries to sabotage Troop Beverly Hills every step of the way. They show her in the end though! Saturday night, Savannah had terrible storms! I woke up in the middle of the night and was so scared! I turned on the Weather Channel and watched for like 30 minutes (at 3 AM) until the Tornado Watches and Warnings expired! Sunday, I hung out with Thomas and ate dinner with his family. Sunday was a nice relaxing day. Now back to the daily grind! I hope everyone has a great Monday!!!
