Thursday!

We are almost there! I hate Thursdays now that school has started because I literally get to school by 8 a.m. and don't leave until 9 p.m. I have to run across campus in 15 minutes between every class and then go to work on the other side of town for a few hours and then come back for a 3 hour Macroeconomics lecture. I think I have mentioned I am an Economics major before, but it is so tough. I love learning about it though. Anyway, I really don't have any brain power left to think about a unique post, so I am going to post a couple pictures of Jennifer throughout the years.

Thanks!!!

Thanks so much for the comments on my Fashion Police post! It's always easier to decide what to buy when you have friends to give feedback. I ultimately decided to buy the adorable dress with the little grasshoppers on it! I did not get the capris because A came over and we looked at what options I had to wear the white blouse and I actually have a pair of capris that are bright blue with white flowers all over them. They are slightly reminisent of the pair I was looking at on ebay. I really don't want two pairs of capris that are almost identical. I will wait and maybe get a pink and green pair of Lilly capris when I find some that I love at a price that I love! I also have some great ideas for that pink top thanks to all of you lovely ladies. I always felt like it looked plain when I wear it with jeans or to work with black, but now I will be able to style it in a way that it looks tres chic! I truly love all of the comments you ladies leave for me, not just on that post, but on all of them! I never thought I would get into blogging, but now I am hooked and I am so glad I started this blog! I always enjoy reading your comments and your posts on your own blogs! I feel as if I am forming some great friendships with all of y'all! Thanks ladies!!!!

Something Lighter!

After my heavy post this morning, I needed something a little bit lighter!!! I need your help ladies! After Monograms and Manicures posted about cleaning out her closet this past weekend and listing some items on ebay, it got me in a shopping mood today! I really want to get her plaid skirt that she listed as it is adorable! Of course after that I had to go look at some Lilly items! I am now debating what to buy on ebay today! Be my fashion police and tell me what to buy! (Both are New With Tags!)
Palm Beach Fit Capris in Shell Yeah! (When I bought the white shirt in this post, I really wanted the capris to match. Now I have found them at an unbeatable price! I am going to try to get the seller to make a buy it now for me if I decide to get these. The starting bid is for $39.99 with FREE shipping. When can I start wearing them in Savannah though? It will be warm enough in March, but will the shells be too much for early Spring? Do the flowers make it okay to wear in Spring? Or do I need to wait to wear them in about May/June?)
Loop Shift in Ahhh Grasshopper (This is a great style for school, work, and play. The print is whimsical, yet refined enough for my office which has many older people that don't care about fashion. The buy it now is for $59.99 with $5.99 shipping, great price right! I can wear it starting in late February if it is warm enough and then in full swing in March with a light cardigan. Does this dress have any drawbacks? I can't even think of one!)Now, I have another issue for y'all! I have no idea how to wear this top that I bought in December. I wore it once with black trousers, black heels, and pearls. I got tons of compliments on the top and pearls combo, but I felt like it was plain and wasn't an outfit. Do you know what I mean? I am in desperate need of a cute bottom idea for this top! Oh, and what shoes! I need something I can wear to college and to work in an office with 600+ people (no dress code though!) Leave me some comments and help me through this fashion crisis!!!!

A Special Sermon

I meant to blog yesterday about the sermon we had a church, but I didn't get a chance to sit in front of the computer all day. Yesterday at my church we had a special guest speaker from Zimbabwe. My church is very focused on missions, so it was such a treat to have someone that our church has directly helped come to speak to us. This man started his sermon saying that he was only 1% of what our time and money has done for his community and that there is still 99% to be told and then he told his life story to us. He immigrated from Mozambique and none of the children in Zimbabwe would befriend him, then he saw a missionary who was kind to him and gave him food. As an older boy, he was hungry and weak so he decided to go to the city to become a professional thief. Then a missionary saw him and took him back to the village and gave him food and shared Jesus with him. Then the missionaries let him wash the brand new truck for the community while they were gone and he decided to take it. Not knowing how to drive, he totaled it and the police took him to jail for stealing. In Zimbabwe, theft will put in jail for life. He was brutalized in jail and was contemplating suicide, but then the missionaries came to the jail and asked to pull him out because they were not angry about the truck. The man could not believe that the missionaries could forgive him for what he did. When he was a young man, he went to the college in Zimbabwe, where he met another missionary. This man wanted to help the people of Zimbabwe so much, but he had to leave shortly after their meeting to get married. The missionary's new wife decided a month into their marriage that she no longer wanted to go to Zimbabwe and their marriage failed within the first year. The missionary was so saddened by this that he decided to stay in the U.S. and sold all of his goods in Zimbabwe and gave the money to two people in the village in order for them to go to school. Years later, the man from Zimbabwe came to the U.S. for school to become a missionary pilot and found the missionary that gave his money to put two people through school. The man from Zimbabwe was one of the recipients and wanted to thank him, however when he found the missionary he was depressed and felt like he never made a difference in the world. The man from Zimbabwe told him that he was the one who went to school because of him and lifted the missionary's spirits. The missionary helped the man from Zimbabwe and now the man from Zimbabwe was able to help the missionary. Today, this man from Zimbabwe is a preacher at the church in his village. He is 43, 8 years older than Zimbabwe's life expectancy. There were over 200 children in the village when he was the outcast boy, and he is only one alive today. It is amazing to me what a dollar and a person willing to sacrifice for a mission trip can do for another person. The man from Zimbabwe said,"Why is it that you were born in the U.S. where you have so many opportunities and I was born in Zimbabwe where I had to fight to survive? Is it that Jesus loves the people in the U.S. more? No, of course not! He entrusted those that he has blessed with what they have because he wants them to share it with others." This quote will stay with me forever. I have always struggled in my spirituality with questions like this, but I had never thought about it from this way. I know this post is getting lengthy, but I was moved to tears by this mans story and thought everyone in the world could benefit from hearing this. Since this is my way of telling the world, I am going to tell it!!!! One final thought, remember that you are blessed by the Lord so that he can bless others through you.

Book Tag!

I have recently been tagged by Tales From My Empty Nest and Allison at Charmville with the Book Tag! Thank you ladies for this tag! I have seen this on a couple blogs and was so excited when I saw that I was tagged! It took me a little while to get this post up, but I truly appreciate the tag! You ladies made my day!

Here are the rules:
1) Grab the nearest book.
2) Open to page 56.
3) Find the 5th sentence.
4) Post the text of the next 2-5 sentences and these rules.
5) Pick the closest book (not the favorite, cool, or intellectual).
6) Tag 5 peeps!

The old man looked after the child now and the woman worked with the man from dawn until sunset flowed over the fields, and Wang Lung perceived one day that again she was with child, his first thought was of irritation that during the harvest she would be unable to work. He shouted at her, irritable with fatigue, "So you have chosen this time to breed again, have you!" She shouted stoutly. "This time it is nothing. It is only the first that is hard."

This is a wonderful book by a Nobel Prize-Winning Author. It also won the Pulitzer Prize more than 60 years ago. This book is about a farmer named Wang Lung who lives through both famine and wealth in Pre-Revolutionary China. He asks the gods for a wife and receives a selfless wife named O-lan, however wealth changes him and makes him take what he has for granted. This story always reminds me about being humble because what the Lord gives you can easily be taken away. I have read this book many times. I am overjoyed in the happy parts and cry in the sad parts. It is a touching novel that I would suggest to anyone! You will not be disappointed!!!!

The Letter Game!

I have seen The Letter Game going around on a couple blogs and thought it was so cute! The Pink Tutu was gracious and gave me the letter "T" so that I could play! If you have never been to her blog, make sure you drop by because she is a wonderful blog friend to have! OK, so here we go!
1. Tea
My favorite kind of tea is English Breakfast Tea. I once worked with a girl who was a huge fan of tea and got me hooked on drinking it with heavy cream and honey. She told me that this is the traditional English way for drinking tea, but I have never looked into it. Does anyone know about this? I love to drink it this way, however I try to only use heavy cream on special occasions and stick to skim milk for everyday. Most people think I am crazy because I hate coffee! I can't help it, I just love all types of tea!
2. Lilly Tunics
I adore Lilly tunics because they are so perfect for Savannah weather and instantly make jeans look 10 times more chic! The wonderful patterns don't hurt either! I recently bought my first Lilly tunic and I am hooked! See it on this post! I am thinking about adding this tunic to my collection on my birthday in March! 3. Tiaras
I was in a beauty pageant when I was little and was immediately hooked! I got really into them when I was in high school and when I won, I loved getting the beautiful tiara. It really makes you feel like a princess! I also enjoy learning about European royalty! My favorite queen is Marie Antoinette because of her opulent life style. She had the best jewels!
4. Target
Love the clothes, love the shoes, love the home decor, love the doggie items, LOVE IT ALL! Target is the best place to get items for less! They are always fashionable and cheap!

5. Tiffany and Co.
The signature blue box with big white bow, the fact that Audrey Hepburn has a movie all about Tiffany's, the gorgeous diamonds you could gaze at forever...I don't know what I love best about Tiffany's. When I make it to NYC I will definitely hit up this store, even if it is only to browse.6. Toile
So classic and elegant. Toile can dress up any space in your home!
7. Tory Burch
I have never bought any items from this designer, but I love everything she makes. I am coveting the Reva ballet flats! Can I have one of each please! 8. Tanzanite
I have completely fallen in love with this stone. I once worked in a jewelry store and I have definitely acquired a taste for fine jewelry! If you are going to buy Tanzanite, make sure you buy AAA because it is the best and has the deepest color. Tazanite is only mined in two places in the world, Tanzania (where it was found and the place that it owes it's name to) and the Middle East. Due to the shortage of the stone and the conflicts in areas where it is mined, it is a very rare stone. You can find cheap Tanzanite at any old jewelry store, but when you find a gorgeous piece of AAA, you will want it forever!
9. Tacori
This jewelry designer is one of my all time favorites! The gold work on the pieces is phenomenal and the way in which the diamonds are placed makes the gold work look even better. I wish I would receive one of these for an engagement ring!!!
10. My boyfriend whose name begins with a T
I'm sorry, but he will not let me put his name on my blog. He told me he was going to come up with a really funny nickname I could call him though. Right now he is set on Tyreak. I have no idea where he comes up with this stuff! Anyway, he is absolutely the love of my life! I don't want to go into too much detail because I am planning to do a Valentine's Day blog all about him. Maybe then he will let me post a picture and reveal his name!
If any of you girls want to play along, comment on this post and I will assign you a letter!

New Product Alert: Memoire Liquide

Did any of you girls watch The Real Housewives of Orange County last night? I have been slacking on my T.V. watching lately, but as of last night I did watch the current Bachelor and RHOC. My favorite part of watching the housewives last night was when they went to Fred Segal. I have never been to the West Coast, but I have always wanted to because of the fabulous shopping. Last night made me want to go for a visit even more! If you didn't watch the episode, the ladies went to Fred Segal to mix their own perfumes. What a delightful idea! I am one of those ladies with way too much perfume, however none of them are really what I want to wear. I always get a large sampling of the Victoria's Secret perfumes in my Christmas stocking and I also have Tommy Girl and Clinique Happy and various other small bottles given to me at different times in my life. I really liked all of these perfumes in high school, but I feel like I am outgrowing these scents. I would much rather have one signature fragrance to wear for all occasions than the assortment I have collected over the years. (Don't get me wrong I appreciate people buying me fragrance, I don't want to sound ungrateful!) Back to the story...the ladies of O.C. made their own signature fragrances to match their personalities! I LOVE this idea! Of course I had to look into this because I want to have someone mix one up for me. The company that makes the fragrances is called Memoire Liquide and they have loads of scented oils you smell with a consultant helping you to make a delicious combination. Alas, the only places you can have this experience is at Fred Segal in Santa Monica and Henri Bendel in New York. Unfortunately, this southern belle has visited neither! I have scoured the internet today looking for information about this product. Their website is not fully functional as of yet, however I did find a useful perfume blog that informed me about some of the wonderful combinations that have been made. Hopefully, one of these days I will make my way to California and New York City (although I will wait for it to thaw out!

Proud to be an American!

I cannot describe in words the amount of pride I have in my heart for our beloved United States of America today! Regardless of who you voted for in this historic election, I hope we can all agree that we are proud to be Americans. We are lucky that we are living in a country where we are free to speak, worship, and VOTE in any way we choose. We are lucky that we have men and women who love this country so much that they are willing to put their lives on the line to protect it and it's citizens. We are lucky that we are living in a time where both a woman and an African American were strong contenders for a place in the White House. We are lucky to live in a country where we know we are going to have clean food and water. We are lucky to live in a country where all people can get an education and better themselves. Finally, we are lucky to live in a country where all men are created equal!

It's a Boy!!!!

Before you stroke, I am NOT pregnant. I am referring to my childhood BFF M! She went to the doctor yesterday and found out she is carrying a boy! I could not be more thrilled for her. I will give you some background on our friendship. M and I met each other when I was 6 and she was 5 through Rec. level Cheerleading. We immediately became such great friends that we were like sisters. We did Dance and Cheerleading together and spent every weekend at each other's homes. As we got older, we both did Varsity High School Cheerleading and All-Star Cheerleading together. To tell you the truth though, in high school we drifted apart a little. However, both of us would be there for each other in a second if the other needed them. We have that connection where we know each other so well that we are really and truly almost like sisters. Since college, we both have put more of an effort into our friendship and are enjoying spending more and more time together. When she got pregnant, of course I couldn't have been more thrilled for her and C (her significant other). I ran out to Motherhood Maternity and bought her one of those cute baby in the belly t-shirts and my mother bought her What To Expect When You're Expecting. It has been fun to see ultrasound pictures of the growing baby and to see her belly grow so quickly. Although, you definitely saw it early on with M since she started out at a size 0. Doesn't that make you sick! Well, the point of the post is that we are planning a shopping trip for nursery decor! I am throwing her a baby shower tentatively in April and I want to match the shower theme to the nursery so that she can take home the decorations to put in the nursery. I couldn't help but start browsing online shops for decor! Here are my favorites!

Pottery Barn Kids Transportation Nursery Bedding - How adorable with the ceiling painted like clouds and a mural of hot air balloons, boats, trucks, and tractors on the walls!Serena and Lily Graham Bedding - What little boy doesn't need a rowing inspired nursery complete with seersucker!

Kidsline Noah's Ark Bedding - I love the idea of a Noah's ark themed nursery. Look at the alligators, TWO CUTE! (Do you like my funny play on words?)
Maddie Boo Travis Western Bedding - Little boys always love Cowboys and Indians, so why not start him out with a Western Nursery!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday and that you have a wonderful weekend!

First Day of School and Facebook

Are any of y'all on Facebook? I have been addicted to Facebook for years and if any of you lovely ladies would like to be friends on Facebook, feel free to drop a comment or email with your full name so that I can add you. Today was the first day of school for me and let me just say I am intimidated. I am an Economics major, so obviously I am ready for a challenge, but...I have this one teacher who happens to be my advisor and he scared me half to death. He was louder and more sarcastic in class than in advisement. He also expects a lot out of the students considering it is only Intro to Microeconomics. It is filled with students of all majors and I think I would die if I didn't make a better grade than someone who is a History major (aka T who is sitting next to me in this class only because we thought it would be fun to take a class together) I did fine last semester and I am sure I will make it through this one also, but I am nervous!!!
P.S. I recently added about 3 albums to Facebook for your viewing pleasure!

Back to School Shopping

I haven't been "Back To School" shopping since I was in grade school, but I decided to reward myself for getting straight A's during Fall semester and buy myself some new clothes from none other than Lilly Pulitzer. Monograms and Manicures always is talking about the Lilly signature store called Melly in her hometown. Since the signature store in Savannah recently closed I decided to try online shopping at Melly. WOW! I got lucky! Not only was a ton of stuff on sale, but there was a extra 25% off promotion going on on top of the already low prices. The sale is still going on through today so click over to Melly and get your orders in! These lovely items are on their way to my home!I got this in Navy Blue Isn't this adorable!!! I am planning on wearing it to A's college graduation this summer!I got this top in Pink Coral!I got this top in White, won't it look great in the office!
I just love Lilly and I love it even more when I get it on sale!

Update: I got sick at work today :( I guess that the day every stitch of family goes home is the day my body feels that it can relax and get sick. Anyway, it worked out nicely because my package from Melly arrived today!!! Let me tell you it is so much cuter in person! I haven't shopped for Lilly in a couple of seasons because our signature store closed, but I think I will online shop at Melly from now on! The sale has been extended through today, so make sure you get your orders in. I ordered mine on Friday and it arrived Monday, talk about customer service! FYI - I slept for 3 hours when I got home from work and I now feel so much better, it must be a 24 hour virus.

Disney, Finally!

Let me say that I am finally over at T's house with WIFI on my laptop with my Disney pictures uploaded! Today is a great day! I finally get to tell you about my Disney World trip! The trip started on Friday after work. A had to work until 7:30 so I made her dinner to eat on the road and as soon as she got home we got going. The drive took so long and we didn't get to Orlando until 2 in the morning meaning that it took 6 hours. If any on y'all have ever drove I-95 South, it is a little stressful until you get to Jacksonville. They have the roads torn up and orange barrels everywhere. This night was even worse because in Jacksonville they had the traffic narrowed into 1 lane that was going about 7 MPH. When we finally got out of Jacksonville, we found an 24 hour Starbucks (never knew they had these) and had a bizarre experience with the staff not wanting to serve us! When we got to Orlando, we were exhausted and went right to sleep. Now would be a great time to say that we didn't get to stay in the wonderful timeshare we always stay in, but the overflow one farther from Disney :( It was a fine timeshare, just a little smaller than the one we usually are in. The sights around it was what made it so funny. It was next door to a flea market (actually in the alley where we saw a sign for the tattoo entrance and the massage entrance, who goes to the flea market for a massage!) and a 24 hour "Fun Spot" with a huge Ferris wheel. We kept laughing about this the entire weekend. So the next morning we woke up at the crack of dawn to get to Disney right when it opened. We were a few minutes late because we got lost on the way, but we made it and started our fun day. The park was decorated beautifully with wreaths and a huge Christmas tree. It was so exciting to be there during the Christmas season, but I had no idea it would be even more crowded than summer! It was so packed you could barely move. At first it was no big deal, but with our sleep deprivation and all the leash children walking around, I was a little cranky. I swear if I see one more 9 year old being walked like a dog, I am going to scream! I kinda understand it when you have a small child, but at age 5 or above it is degrading and if you can't control a child at that age don't take them to Disney World. Sorry if any of y'all have a child this age and keep up with them by leash, I don't have a child and I might feel completely different when I do. I just don't get it! I literally saw a lady pulling her child like a puppy who had never been on a walk. Enough of my ranting...It was crowded, but a lot of fun. We rode everything we could get to and went to Mickey's Twas The Night Before Christmas show. It was great! Here are a couple pictures of the day.
On the Carousel in FanstasylandWearing my new Minnie Mouse ears, I buy a new pair every time I go. I have quite a collection and now I have a Christmas pair to add to it!The Castle all lit up for Christmas, it looks like ice.

The next day we laid out at the pool and got in the hot tub until about 3, then we went to Downtown Disney and looked in all the shops. We finished the day with a trip to the Rainforest Cafe. I love that restaurant because it is so unique. There is an Elephant Room with large elephants that blow their trunks every so often and when you look up you can see shooting stars. There is also a Gorilla Room and there are rain showers every so often. It is a neat place to dine and I would recommend it to anyone that goes to Downtown Disney.
The fish swimming around us at the Rainforest Cafe. A and I got the best 4-cheese pizza and pita quesadillas to share!

The next day we had to go back home to Savannah, but it was a nice escape for the weekend. I have now come out of hiding and shown my face to the blogging world. I wrestled with the idea of putting my face out there for anyone to see, but I figured that it was safe to show to my blogging friends. I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Thanks for the Support!

I just want to say Thank You to all you sweet women who have sent me comments about T's truck. T's mother and father went to the get the truck after it was impounded because they bought it for him when he was 15 therefore their name was on the title. When they got to the impound lot to get the truck, it was so much worse than they thought. The truck was on two tires and two cinder blocks, however the tires were not the ones that T had on the truck. The inside of the truck was demolished and when they looked under the hood, there was nothing there. They popped the hood and it was empty, no engine, no radiator, no transmission, nada! T's mother told me that her heart just sank. The police report said nothing about this much damage. Then the something strange happened. A unnamed person called the place where it was impounded looking for that exact truck body and offered to pay $200 for it, but they wanted the title to it. That seemed very suspicious to everyone and the fact that they left no name and no number and just said they would call back about it. Did someone do this after the police found it? The only people who have had it since the police was the towing company and the impound lot, are they suspicious? Did the officer just do a bad report? Who knows what is going on at this point, but the police did find the truck in a run down area in Savannah where it was parked in an alley. Apparently the police have found approx. 20 stolen and stripped cars here over the past 2-3 years. Why has no one looked into this? Maybe they have, but this stolen car story is getting more bizarre by the day. All of T's history notes, school bag, and Cd's are gone. Now this is the scary part, so it his work jacket. He works for a security company as a security guard and wears a jacket with the logo all over it. Now some dishonest thief has a security jacket. It's not like they can get into T's work because you have a ton of security checkpoints, but this person could be wearing it around Savannah and could easily put a person at ease because they think they are a security guard and then get robbed or worse. I am so ready for all of us to wash our hands of it, go to a dealership, and buy a new truck. Our friends are getting a security system at their home where it was stolen and T has told me that one day when we get married we will not be living right in Savannah and we will have a security system and guns. He is scared to drive into Savannah and even leave a car at the mall while we go shopping. This entire thing has turned our lives upside-down and I am getting sick of it. I completely understand his worry and I am a little worried also, but let's move on with our lives. Thanks for reading my venting and for all your support. When you get something stolen, you feel so vulnerable.

Thanks for your prayers!

Thank you lovely ladies for all of your prayers for T. The power of prayer is amazing!!! T had a call from the police yesterday and they found his truck! It is impounded and damaged, but atleast now he can sell it for parts and make a little money for whatever his next vehicle is. His truck was a 1992 Chevy Silverado that he has had since he was 15. It ran okay, but it was past time to buy a new one. The thief stole 2 tires (not 4?), the stereo, the speakers, and broke the steering column. It is not even drivable and will cost even more to fix than it is worth. T has been looking for trucks/cars on the internet. His top choices are a Dodge Charger, Chevy Silverado, or a Toyota Tundra. Is is bad that I really want him to go with something smaller, I suggested the Toyota. Gas is bound to go up again and he doesn't need a gas guzzling truck or charger! T is all about buying American, but it is obvious to me that the American car companies are not developing vehicles for the changing needs of consumers. Toyotas and Hondas last forever (my mom has a Camry still going strong at 200K miles) and they have a wonderful resale value. Typical guy, T only cares if it is a V8 and looks cool. It's his choice, but I hope he hears me out on this one. I'll keep y'all posted on what happens with this!
