Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Brrrrrr! Surprise, the weather in Savannah, GA is cold today! Freezing by this belle's standards...and guess what? I didn't watch the weather channel today while picking out my outfit! The one day I decide to listen to Praise and Worship music instead of Weather Channel, I miss the news that today is the coldest day of winter in Savannah. And at that...I am by no means glamorous looking today. Picture black and gray plaid pants that are too big (as is everything in my closet now that I have dropped weight) and a black long sleeved t-shirt with comfy black clogs. I did accessorize with a cute multi-colored beaded necklace, diamond earrings, aquamarine ring, Seiko watch, and "Frankly Scarlet" Vera Bradley handbag. Cute? Not so much! Now, think about this outfit and look at this picture:Does this outfit sound warm enough...I think not! It is 33 degrees with a wind chill that feels like 12 degrees. The wind is gusting at 29 MPH according to the weather channel. Yuck! I have to walk 5 blocks from my car to my office in the morning and then again in the afternoon and let me say the wind was whipping around the buildings and it brought a tear to my eye (because wind was blowing dirt into it!) I might as well be in the Arctic because I have been freezing all day long. I have a new found respect for all you Northern ladies, I just can't handle this cold. This may sound silly, but do you ladies that live in places where you see snow wear long johns under your outfits everyday? I really want to know how you beat the freezing temperatures. I think I would have to wear long johns all the time, in fact I might have to wear some tomorrow since it's supposed to be even colder! Now everyone have a good giggle at the expense of me because A) I am freezing my patootie off and I don't have a sweater, hat, gloves, or scarf to help me and B) because I am completely over-reacting and you probably deal with weather like this all winter.

  1. No, we don't wear long johns up here, it's called a COAT. And you're right, it's freezing outside and I watched the weather tonight and they said tomorrow's high will be...16!!!!!!!!!!! That's the high. Most days I try really hard not to venture out if I can but tomorrow I have to be out and about and am not liking a high of 16 because that means when I'm out it will probably be around 8. Oh well, spring is coming! Enjoy your cold evening!

  2. I was dying today at school. Walking in 5 degree weather with wind does not make for a pretty girl! I'm just happy that even in NE we are getting 50+ weather the next two days! I'm sure it'll be coming your way!

  3. I don't wear long johns, but I do wear a long down feather coat, gloves, a fleece headband and scarf almost everday. I always wear the coat and gloves! hang in there, you'll survive!
