Let me say that I am finally over at T's house with WIFI on my laptop with my Disney pictures uploaded! Today is a great day! I finally get to tell you about my Disney World trip! The trip started on Friday after work. A had to work until 7:30 so I made her dinner to eat on the road and as soon as she got home we got going. The drive took so long and we didn't get to Orlando until 2 in the morning meaning that it took 6 hours. If any on y'all have ever drove I-95 South, it is a little stressful until you get to Jacksonville. They have the roads torn up and orange barrels everywhere. This night was even worse because in Jacksonville they had the traffic narrowed into 1 lane that was going about 7 MPH. When we finally got out of Jacksonville, we found an 24 hour Starbucks (never knew they had these) and had a bizarre experience with the staff not wanting to serve us! When we got to Orlando, we were exhausted and went right to sleep. Now would be a great time to say that we didn't get to stay in the wonderful timeshare we always stay in, but the overflow one farther from Disney :( It was a fine timeshare, just a little smaller than the one we usually are in. The sights around it was what made it so funny. It was next door to a flea market (actually in the alley where we saw a sign for the tattoo entrance and the massage entrance, who goes to the flea market for a massage!) and a 24 hour "Fun Spot" with a huge Ferris wheel. We kept laughing about this the entire weekend. So the next morning we woke up at the crack of dawn to get to Disney right when it opened. We were a few minutes late because we got lost on the way, but we made it and started our fun day. The park was decorated beautifully with wreaths and a huge Christmas tree. It was so exciting to be there during the Christmas season, but I had no idea it would be even more crowded than summer! It was so packed you could barely move. At first it was no big deal, but with our sleep deprivation and all the leash children walking around, I was a little cranky. I swear if I see one more 9 year old being walked like a dog, I am going to scream! I kinda understand it when you have a small child, but at age 5 or above it is degrading and if you can't control a child at that age don't take them to Disney World. Sorry if any of y'all have a child this age and keep up with them by leash, I don't have a child and I might feel completely different when I do. I just don't get it! I literally saw a lady pulling her child like a puppy who had never been on a walk. Enough of my ranting...It was crowded, but a lot of fun. We rode everything we could get to and went to Mickey's Twas The Night Before Christmas show. It was great! Here are a couple pictures of the day.

On the Carousel in Fanstasyland

Wearing my new Minnie Mouse ears, I buy a new pair every time I go. I have quite a collection and now I have a Christmas pair to add to it!

The Castle all lit up for Christmas, it looks like ice.
The next day we laid out at the pool and got in the hot tub until about 3, then we went to Downtown Disney and looked in all the shops. We finished the day with a trip to the Rainforest Cafe. I love that restaurant because it is so unique. There is an Elephant Room with large elephants that blow their trunks every so often and when you look up you can see shooting stars. There is also a Gorilla Room and there are rain showers every so often. It is a neat place to dine and I would recommend it to anyone that goes to Downtown Disney.

The fish swimming around us at the Rainforest Cafe. A and I got the best 4-cheese pizza and pita quesadillas to share!
The next day we had to go back home to Savannah, but it was a nice escape for the weekend. I have now come out of hiding and shown my face to the blogging world. I wrestled with the idea of putting my face out there for anyone to see, but I figured that it was safe to show to my blogging friends. I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!
You look adorable in the Mickey ears. Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteAwww I love Disneyland!
ReplyDeleteyou look soo pretty and so happy! xo
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had so much fun! I despise those leash things on children, too. But, I honestly hate them on ANY age child! Late hubby and I never used a leash on either child - proud to say ;-)
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love Disney? I haven't been in about 16 years, so I think I need to get back down there. I probably wouldn't recognize the place. The castle looks amazing all lit up!!! I'm glad you had a wonderful time, even if it was a quick trip.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week back at school.
Aren't you cute!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go to Disney :)
